The Croatian Catholic parish was founded on October 12, 1967 in Calgary.

The founder of the parish and the first parish priest was Fr. Zvonko Radošević. The Croats bought the first church in May 1968.

In the same year, the Croatian School was founded.

The current church was built in 1981 for the parish of Fr. Duja Boban, and Cardinal Franjo Šeper blessed the church on August 2, 1981 and dedicated it to Mother of God Bistrica.

The Croatian Catholic parish of Our Lady of Bistrica in Calagry has 311 families on the parish list, and there are 151 families in the parish register.

STATE OF SOULS IN THE CROATIAN PARISH CALGARY 2018

BAPTISMS: 4 boys and 9 girls were baptized, a total of 13 children.

FIRST COMMUNION: Received 4 children: 3 boys and 1 girl

CONFIRMATION/CHRISM: –

WEDDINGS: 5 couples, 3 Catholic and 2 mixed marriages.

DECEASED: 9 people, 7 men and 2 women.

Sundays at 11:00 a.m. and Saturdays at 5:00 a.m. during mass. Baptism should be announced a month earlier due to the preparation of parents and godparents. Godparents at baptism and confirmation can only be Catholics.

Confession half an hour before each Mass and by appointment.

The wedding should be announced 6 months earlier due to possible obstacles. Fiancés should bring a baptismal and divorce certificate, not older than 6 months.
